The dream cruise idea is loosely based on the Woodward Dream Cruise, which is an iconic car event taking place in Detroit every two years. It’s about bringing the community together to celebrate great cars. The Holden Dream Cruise will involve entrants meeting at Elizabeth City Centre and driving in a procession through the suburbs of Elizabeth, around the Holden plant, to the edge of Salisbury and back to My Money House Oval, where the top 100 cars will go on display.
You will definitely need to register as we have a limited number of places on the cruise. Entries are limited to cars that have been assembled or manufactured in Australia for Holden or General Motors.
Go to holdendreamcruise.com.au. There is a two-step registration process, which means that after you register the details of your car, you will need to wait to see if your car has been accepted. The reason for this is that we have model and year allocations to make sure we have great representation of all the iconic cars made by Holden over the years. If your car is accepted, you’ll receive an email letting you know how to complete the payment process to confirm your registration. If your car is not accepted initially, you’ll get an email explaining that you have been placed on a wait list, and we’ll contact you again if a spot becomes available.
As Holden needs to review all registrations, please allow up to 48 hours to receive an email letting you know if your car has been accepted or not. If your car is accepted you’ll have 3 days complete the payment process before your registration is confirmed.
Unfortunately if you don’t complete the payment process within the 3 days, your registration is automatically cancelled. You’ll have to start the registration process again.
With limited places on the cruise, there are model and year allocations to make sure we have great representation of all the iconic cars made by Holden over the years. Unfortunately this means that some people may miss out if lots of cars like theirs have already been entered in the cruise. If a place becomes available, we’ll let you know straight away. Alternatively, you could get involved by becoming an official volunteer on the day. Details at holdendreamcruise.com.au/volunteer.
We have had the majority of registrations flow through without a glitch, but if you are having trouble, send and email to email@example.com to alert them. It would be really helpful if you tell them that you are using Android or Apple phone and if you are using a PC or iPad as you have tried to register. If you can screen shot your issue and forward that is really helpful. We will send it on to our IT web team managing the event and they will check it out and get back to you.
We expect the cruise to be a popular event so unfortunately we can’t hold unconfirmed places, and registrations in the cruise are on a first-in, first served basis. If your registration is accepted, you’ll have 3 days to make your payment, but if payment isn’t received by then your registration will be cancelled.
If it was assembled in Australia for General Motors, it will be eligible. This means that Australian-assembled Chevrolets, Buicks, and so on can enter. However this means that fully imported Holdens, such as Barinas, Astras, Colorados, and so on, cannot enter. If you’re not sure check the registration page of the website. The first MAKE drop down has all eligible cars. Other makes, such as Ford, Mazda, Toyota, and so on will also not be eligible.
The Holden Dream Cruise is a chance to celebrate and honour the achievements of Holden’s Australian manufacturing history, so we want to focus on our Australian-made models.
We would love you to come along on the day and be a part of the action! You can find a spot along the route to watch the parade go by and cheer on the cars. You can also come to the family fun day and celebration concert at the end of the parade route. We also need volunteers to act as marshalls along the route, support the Show ‘n’ Shine, help with getting cars in and parked into the starting point. Go to Holdendreamcruise.com.au if you’d like to find out more or register to volunteer.
Entry is free to anyone wanting to cheer the cars along the cruise route, or come to the car display, family fun day and celebration concert at My Money House Oval. If you want to enter your car in the cruise, there is a cost of $50.
The top 100 cars entered in the cruise will be selected to be part of the show ‘n’ shine, which means these cars will go on display at the family fun day, and will be judged by a panel of experts. There are different categories in the competition:
· Best Preserved
· Best Modified
· Best Pre-1968 including 1968
· Best Post-1968
· Best Overall
· People’s Choice.
